Biography

Byul (별), born Kim Go-eun on October 22, 1983, in Seosan, South Korea, is a veteran South Korean singer and songwriter known for her emotive ballads and heartfelt lyrics. She made her debut in 2002 under JYP Entertainment with the album December 32, which gained attention for its melancholic tone and the title track’s poignant message. Her stage name “Byul,” meaning “star” in Korean, reflects the soft and emotional nature of her music. Over the years, Byul has released a steady stream of acclaimed albums, including Star (2005), Fountain of Tears (2006), and Her Story (2007). Her fifth studio album, Like A Star (2009), marked a mature evolution in her sound, blending pop and ballad elements. Beyond full-length albums, she has also released extended plays such as Identity (2010), Nostalgia(2012), and Leaves (2017), showcasing her versatility as an artist. Byul is widely recognized not only for her musical talent but also for her sincere public image.
