Biography

KÃ¦lan Mikla, an Icelandic post-punk band formed in 2013 in ReykjavÃk, consists of lead vocalist Laufey SoffÃa, bassist MargrÃ©t RÃ³sa DÃ³ru-HarrÃ½sdÃ³ttir and keyboardist SÃ³lveig Matthildur KristjÃ¡nsdÃ³ttir. The trio initially came together for a local poetry contest, combining Matthildur's poems with RÃ³sa's bass and SoffÃa's vocals. Their debut album MÃ¡nadans was recorded in 2014 and released via limited edition cassette in 2017. In 2016, they released their self-titled second album under Fabrika Records. KÃ¦lan Mikla gained significant recognition by performing at the Roadburn Festival in 2018 and opening for Placebo. Their third album NÃ³tt eftir nÃ³tt was released in November 2018, followed by Undir kÃ¶ldum norÃ°urljÃ³sum in October 2021.
