Velocity Girl, an American indie rock group formed in 1989 in College Park, Maryland, emerged from a partnership between Kelly Young and Archie Moore. The duo, joined by Brian Nelson, Jim Spellman, and vocalist Bridget Cross, released the single "I Don't Care If You Go" in 1990 through Slumberland Records, after which Sarah Shannon replaced Cross. The band later signed with Sub Pop and issued the debut album Copacetic in 1993, followed by ¡Simpatico! in 1994 and Gilded Stars and Zealous Hearts in 1996. The group disbanded in 1996 after a show in West Palm Beach; reunions in 2002 and 2023 saw performances at Black Cat and Bowery Ballroom, and a remixed edition of Copacetic was released in 2024.
