Sabrina Chap, born December 9, 1977, in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, is an American songwriter, cabaret performer, and author. She began her career performing slam poetry at Chicago's Ladyfest in 2000, which led to international performances in Europe. Chapâs first full-length album, Oompa!, and her second album, We Are the Parade, established her presence in the neo-burlesque and cabaret scenes. She has toured nationally and internationally, performing at cabaret venues and collaborating with notable artists in the burlesque community. Chap is also the editor of the anthology Live Through This: On Creativity and Self-Destruction, which explores art as a means to survive trauma and self-destructive impulses.
