Biography

Saï Saï, a French reggae and ragga group formed in 1985, translates to "coquin" or "petit malin" in Wolof. The group gained early traction through sound system events and radio shows in Paris. In 1990, they contributed to the first French rap compilation Rapattitude with "Rouleur à l'heure". Their debut album, Reggae Dance Hall, was released in 1992. In 1994, they released their second album, Le Ragga ça l’fait. During the Bosnian War in 1995, Saï Saï performed impromptu concerts for youth amidst conflict. They established their own label, RARE Sound, in 1997 and released several notable albums including L'Esprit du sound in 1998.
