Biography

Songwriter, guitarist and singer Jonah Marais made his name with the band Why Don't We while pursuing his own solo career. Born Jonah Marais Roth Frantzich in Stillwater, Minnesota, on June 16, 1998, he is the oldest member of the teenage band Why Don't We, which formed in 2016 and released two successful albums through 2021. However, back in 2016, before joining the boy band, he had already demonstrated his desire to establish himself as a solo artist in a pop-rock style, with his first single "War Paint" and a collaboration with The Potash Twins for "Next Ex Girlfriend". His first five tracks are collected on the When the Daylight's Gone EP. Now a composer, for the band or other artists, he returned under his own name in 2024 with a series of singles including "Heaven", "Twisted Lullaby", "H.S.Propaganda", "A Million Midnights" and "Redlight", released within a few weeks of each other in June and collected in The Jonah Marais Mixtape. At the end of the year, he collaborates with Ryan Lewis on his first solo hit, "Slow Motion", which reaches number 39 in the US Radio Pop Songs charts.
