Louis Tomlinson is an English pop singer who first gained fame as a member of the boy band One Direction before launching a similarly successful career as a solo artist. Born in Doncaster, England, on December 24, 1991, he auditioned for "The X Factor" as a teenager and, following his elimination from the competition, became a founding member of One Direction. The group was massively successful, selling 70 million records globally and earning four Number 1 hits on the UK Singles Chart. When members of the band decided to pursue individual ventures, Tomlinson released the single "Just Hold On," which reached Number 2 in the UK and effectively marked the start of his solo career in December 2016. His second single, "Back to You," became a Top 10 hit in 2017, and he released the full-length solo album Walls in January 2020. The album charted at Number 4 in the UK and Number 9 in the US, which the lead single "Miss You" peaking at Number 39 in the UK. Two years later, he reached Number 1 in the UK with his second solo album, Faith in the Future, which featured the singles "Bigger Than Me" and "Out of my System." After the release of Live in April 2024, Louis Tomlinson found inspiration in Costa Rica, where the songs for his third album, How Did I Get Here?, were written.
