Biography

Reece Mastin (born on November 24, 1994 in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England) is an English-Australian singer and songwriter. Teaching himself to sing at a young age, he began writing songs at 12, winning The X Factor Australia (reality television show) in 2011. His winning single “Good Night” was certified 5x Platinum, debuting at number 1 on the ARIA Singles Charts, earning him the award for No. 1 Single at the 2012 ARIA Awards. With his self-titled debut album in December peaking at number 2 on the charts, Mastin followed this with Beautiful Nightmare (2012), which included the hits "Shut Up & Kiss Me" and “Shout It Out”, peaking at number 2 and 1, respectively. Following his success with a tour of Australia and New Zealand, Mastin released mini-documentary, Behind Closed Doors, to critical acclaim, debuting at number 1 on the ARIA Music DVDs chart. In 2015 EP Rebel and the Reason, featuring the lead single of the same name, was followed by third studio album Change Colours (October, 2015), debuting at number 12. His 2018 single “Not the Man for You” saw the singer rebrand himself simply as Mastin, and since then he has released several non-album singles, including collaboration “Me Without You” with singer Caitlyn Shadbolt, as well as “The Problem” (2018) and “The River” (2020). On October 31, 2022, Mastin returned with single “On the Run” to coincide with his ten-year anniversary tour.
