Johana RodrÃguez is a tropical/cumbia singer born in Chancay, Peru, who built her career in Argentina after moving to Greater Buenos Aires as a young mother. After singing in local groups, she connected with Argentine musician Gastón Villalba and co-led the romantic-cumbia project Viru Kumbieron, a duo-centered act that broke nationally in 2018 when they recorded live versions of âNo Te Creas Tan Importanteâ and âMe Vas a Extrañarâ with Damas Gratisâ Pablo Lescano, turning those songs into defining hits of the late-2010s tropical scene and placing Johana RodrÃguez on major Argentine TV and weekend dance circuits. While Viru Kumbieronâs catalog kept expanding, Johana RodrÃguez also began releasing music under her own name, starting with singles such as âLa Mejor Versión de Miâ (2019) and âBastaâ (2019), then continuing with âSi Me Dejas Ahoraâ (2020). In 2021 she added âPor Que Te Fuisteâ and appeared on âContigoâ with Edwin Luna y La Trakalosa de Monterrey, followed by session-style releases and medleys in 2022â2023. Subsequent releases include collaborations on Huguito Flores el Superâs âESAS LÃGRIMASâ (2024) plus her own singles âSi Esta Casa Hablaraâ (2024), âVoló La Palomaâ (2025), and âAmor Se Escribe Con Llanto (Live Session)â (2025).
