Joe Goddard is a London-born producer, vocalist, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist best known as a founding member of the Mercury Prizeânominated band Hot Chip. Blending pop, house, disco, and leftfield electronica, he has carved out a distinct solo identity while remaining a key creative force behind one of the UKâs most innovative electronic acts. He formed Hot Chip with Alexis Taylor in the early 2000s, breaking through with their 2006 album The Warning, featuring the hit âOver and Over,â and going on to release acclaimed records including Made in the Dark (2008), One Life Stand (2010), and Why Make Sense? (2015). Joe Goddardâs signature productionâplayful, layered, and groove-drivenâanchors much of the bandâs catalogue. Outside of Hot Chip, he has pursued a prolific solo career, with standout tracks like âGabrielâ (feat. Valentina) and âLose Your Loveâ gaining international club and radio play. His solo albums, including Electric Lines (2017) and Harmonics (2024), show a more introspective and house-rooted side of his work, steeped in warm analogue textures, disco influences, and soulful vocals. He is also one-half of the DJ/production duo The 2 Bears, a playful, house-inflected project with Raf Rundell, known for their underground anthem âBear Hugâ and their debut LP Be Strong (2012). He is a respected remixer as well, having reworked tracks for Jessie Ware, Disclosure, Kraftwerk, and U2. 2024 also saw the release of the Harmonics Remixed album, with contributions from Ibibio Sound Machine, Hayden Thorpe, and more.
