Biography

Joan Amèric, born on March 19, 1964, in Alcira, Spain, is a Spanish singer-songwriter. He began his career in the 1980s with the group Califat before transitioning to a solo career. His music often explored romantic themes and was known for its diverse musical styles. His breakthrough came in 1987 when he won the tenth prize at the Salitja song contest with "La idea podria enamorar-te". Amèric's debut album, Tornar a l'aigua, was released in 1989 and produced by Lluís Llach. Subsequent albums include Escala de colors (1992), Ànima, diari de les hores blaves (1995), and Obert (2000). In 2012, he released the live album Directament, which documented his closing concert at Barnasants. That same year, Amèric received the Barnasants Award for Best Concert in the official section.
