Biography

James Francis Pembroke, known professionally as Jim Pembroke, was born in 1946 in London and became a pivotal figure in Finnish progressive rock. After he performed with the Taverners' Guild, he relocated to Finland in 1965, where he played with the Beatmakers and the influential group Blues Section. In 1969, he joined Wigwam as their frontman and principal songwriter and led the band through landmark releases like Nuclear Nightclub in 1975. His prolific solo career included albums such as Wicked Ivory in 1972, Corporal Cauliflowers Mental Tune Bank in 1977, and Flat Broke in 1980. Recognized for his vast contributions to the Finnish music scene, he was granted a state artist's pension in 2013. Pembroke continued to compose and perform until his passing in 2021.
