Alquin was a Dutch progressive rock band formed in 1971 in Delft, Netherlands. The band initially played under the name Threshold Fear and released a first single, "Sally Saddlepain" / "Thank Me Not" (1971). After signing with Polydor, Alquin released their debut album Marks (1972), followed by Mountain Queen (1973). They gained significant recognition, being named "Trendsetter of the Year" in the Netherlands and performing at notable venues such as Liverpool's Cavern Club and London's Marquee Club. Their third album, Nobody Can Wait Forever (1975), marked a shift towards a rockier sound with the addition of lead singer Michel van Dijk. Despite commercial success, internal conflicts led to their disbandment in 1977, following a Dutch tour and the release of the live double album Alquin on Tour (1976) and the studio album Best Kept Secret (1976). Alquin reunited in 1995 for a concert in Delft, and later released the studio albums Blue Planet (2005) and Sailors and Sinners (2009). They stopped performing in 2012.
