Biography
Kin Ping Meh, a progressive rock band from Mannheim, Germany, was formed in 1969 by Joachim Schäfer, Werner Stephan, Frieder Schmitt, Torsten Herzog, Kalle Weber, and Willie Wagner. Other notable members included Gagey Mrozeck, who later worked with Herbert Grönemeyer and Udo Lindenberg, and Chris Axel Klöber, formerly of Curly Curve. The group gained initial recognition when they were discovered by Polydor during a competition on the Reeperbahn and released their first single "Everything's My Way/Woman" in 1970. Their debut album, Kin Ping Meh, was released in 1972, followed by No. 2 (1972), 3 (1973), and Virtues and Sins (1974). The band's final album, also titled Kin Ping Meh, was released in 1977, the same year the band disbanded. The band's discography also included several compilations, such as The Greatest Rock Sensation (1975) and Hazy Age on Stage (1991), which featured live recordings from 1971 to 1973.
