Biography

Jerzy Połomski (born Jerzy Pająk; September 18, 1933 – November 14, 2022) was a Polish pop singer and actor from Radom. Połomski adopted the stage name while studying at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw. Połomski began a career in 1957 as a stage actor and radio singer. In 1959, Połomski released the debut album Podwieczorek z piosenką. Połomski placed second at the first Sopot International Song Festival in 1961. Połomski released a series of recordings including “Komu piosenka”, “Daj”, and “Cała sala śpiewa z nami”. The song “Bo z dziewczynami” received the audience award at the Opole Song Festival in 1973. Połomski performed on tours across Europe, the Soviet Union, the USA, and Cuba. Awards include the Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis and a Golden Fryderyk. Połomski retired in 2019 due to hearing problems and died in Warsaw on November 14, 2022.
