Biography
JazmÃn Solar, the artistic name of JazmÃn Zepeda, is a Mexican singer-songwriter and pianist whose work moves between indie pop, folk, alternative rock, and intimate piano-led songwriting. She began studying piano as a child, later trained in composition at the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Musicales in Mexico City, and also studied voice, improvisation, and Yoruba singing. After early collaborations as a vocalist and pianist, she introduced her solo project with the album Pajaritos in 2011, a 10-track debut shaped by acoustic textures and introspective songwriting. In 2014, Solar released her second album, Universo Dentro, which included âMarilynâ and âSabes Bien.â The video for âSabes Bien,â the albumâs second single, was directed by JazmÃn Solar herself and featured actor MartÃn Altomaro. She continued with singles such as âMiéntemeâ in 2016 and âSer Felizâ in 2017, the same year she appeared at Vive Latino. After a quieter period, Solar returned with new material in 2020, including âAmanecerâ and a remix of the song, and appeared on Andrés Almeidaâs âIa.â In 2022, she contributed music to Sexo Pudor y Lágrimas 2, including âSi No Es Amor.â By 2026, JazmÃn Solar was based in Montreal, where she continued studying production and helped create Dos RÃos Collectif, while celebrating the 15th anniversary of Pajaritos with live session videos and releasing the new single âMateo.â
