Biography

Danna Paola is a Mexican singer and actor who found fame after starring in several popular children's television shows. Born Danna Paola Rivera Munguía on June 23, 1995, in Mexico City, her acting career began early when she auditioned for Plaza Sésamo at the age of four, appearing in several episodes with her sister. After this, she was cast in the telenovela Rayito de Luz (2000) and as a lead actress in María Belén (2001). Mi Globo Azul, her studio debut, arrived in 2002 via Universal Mexico. Starring roles followed in several telenovelas as well as the release of two more studio albums, Océano (2004) and Chiquita Pero Picosa (2005). In 2010, Danna Paola voiced Rapunzel in the Spanish-language version of the Disney film Tangled. In 2012, she released her eponymous fourth studio album Danna Paola, moving away from the teen pop style of her earlier albums and introducing themes of romance and relationships. Both the original and deluxe versions in 2013 sold over 1 million copies each, topping the Mexican album charts. Several of the singles from this album topped both the Mexican and US singles charts, including "Todo Fue un Show," "No Es Cierto," and "Agüita." Also in 2013, Danna Paola successfully auditioned for the role of Elphaba in the Spanish-language production of the Broadway musical Wicked. In 2015, she duetted with the Mexican singer Lalo Brito on the single "Mientras Me Enamoras." Over the following years, Paola released several singles including "¿Dónde Estabas Tú?" (2017), "So Good" (2018), and "Mala Fama" (2019). Sie7e +, her fifth album, came out in 2020 and peaked at number 16 on the Latin Pop Albums charts in the United States, also obtaining platinum certification in Mexico and Argentina. Featuring guest spots by Sebastián Yatra ("No Bailes Sola") and Mika ( "Me, Myself"), her sixth album K.O. was released in 2021 and received a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album at the Latin Grammy Awards. Following a string of collaborations with David Bisbal, Lasso, Mau y Ricky, and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike throughout 2022 and 2023, Danna Paola returned in 2024 with the album Childstar, which spawned the singles "XT4S1S," "1 Trago," "Tenemos Que Hablar," "Aún Te Quiero," and "Atari."
