Gerald Eaton, born November 22, 1971 in Spanish Town, Jamaica, is a Canadian singer-songwriter known by his stage name Jarvis Church. He rose to prominence as the lead singer of The Philosopher Kings in the 1990s. During the group's hiatus, he launched a solo career under the name Jarvis Church, releasing Shake It Off in 2002 and The Long Way Home in 2008. As a producer, Eaton discovered Nelly Furtado at the Honey Jam showcase in Toronto and co-produced her debut album Whoa, Nelly! with Brian West, earning a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year in 2001. Notable singles from his solo career include "So Beautiful" and "Just Like That" (2008). Since the 2010s, he followed up with soul tribute albums The Soul Station Vol. 01 The Songs of Sam Cooke: A Tribute (2012), Vol 2: The Songs of Curtis Mayfield: A Tribute (2015), and Vol 3: A Tribute to Bill Withers and Beyond (2022).
