R&B and gospel singer Ray Dalton was born on May 10, 1991. He is best known as the featured vocalist on the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis hit âCanât Hold Usâ. Born in Washington, Ray Dalton was encouraged to sing at the age of 6 by his music teacher. He joined the Seattle Childrenâs Choir and continued singing up through his high school years and beyond. In 2010, he appeared on Dyno Jamzâ single âKingdom Comeâ. Producer/songwriter/rapper Ryan Lewis, inspired by hearing Ray Daltonâs voice, reached out via Facebook and asked Ray Dalton to collaborate with him and rapper Macklemore. Their first single togetherâreleased as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Ray Daltonâwas âCanât Hold Usâ. Released in August, 2011, the single was included on the Macklemore & Ray Lewis album The Heist. âCanât Hold Usâ became a worldwide hit, climbing to the Number 1 spot in the United States, Australia, Sweden, and Poland, and landing in the Top 5 in Switzerland, Scotland, Norway, the Netherlands, Israel, Ireland, Austria, and many other countries. The âCanât Hold Usâ video was nominated for a 2014 Grammy Award for Best Music Video. Ray Dalton released his first solo single, âSo Emotionalâ (mixed by Ryan Lewis), in 2012. His next solo single, âIf You Fallâ, was released in 2017. âBass Downâ, his third single, was released in 2018. In 2020, he released the single âIn My Bonesâ. His debut album, Thee Unknown, arrived in 2024 and featured his hit 2022 collaboration with German DJ and producer Felix Jaehn, "Call It Love."
