Biography

Issei Fūbi Sepia was a male performance group formed in 1982 as a spin-off of the theater troupe Issei Fūbi, and made its debut in 1984 with the single “Dear [Recipient’s Name], From the Road” (1984). Blending J-POP with elements of rock and kayōkyoku, they gained popularity for their powerful vocals and dynamic group choreography. At the time of their disbandment, the group consisted of six members: Sho Aikawa, Shigemitsu Ogi, Toshiro Yanagiba, Shikata Harumi, Kakei Nishimura, and Fuyukaze Matsumura. Their representative works include the album “Street, Laugh as If You’re Crumbling” (1985), and “SHIBUYA” (1989). They are also known for songs such as “Dear [Omitted], From the Road” and “Suite from the Road” (1984), as well as “City, Laugh as If You Were Crumbling” (1985). “Dear [Omitted], From the Road” became a massive hit, peaking at No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Singles Chart, and as one of the leading performance groups of the 1980s, they had a profound influence on the music and entertainment industries that followed.
