Biography

Naoko Kawai is a Japanese female singer and singer-songwriter, born on July 25, 1963 in Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture. She began piano lessons as soon as she entered elementary school, and in the winter of 1979, when she entered high school, she entered a contest to discover new singers and won the final contest held in Tokyo in March of the following year. She moved to Tokyo the same month and made her debut as an idol singer in June 1980 with "Little House in the Big Woods" under the title of Hideki Saishiro's younger sister, and her second single "Young Boy" became a hit in August, winning her many awards including the New Artist Award at the 22nd Japan Record Awards. In 1981, she was seriously injured in a rehearsal accident, but managed to recover within two months and made her first appearance at the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen that year, singing "Smile for Me." Her fifth album "Arubamu" was released in January 1983, and reached No. 1 on the Oricon. UN Balance" and "Question Mark" reached No. 4. The same year, their 6th album "SKY PARK" and 7th album "HALF SHADOW" both reached No. 2. 1984's album "DAYDREAM COAST" began to involve them in the production side of music, and they gradually began to release their own compositions. 1985's single "Debut/ In 1986, she released the album "Scarlet," for which she composed all the music herself. In 1986, she released "Scarlet," an album of her own compositions, and in 1996, she released an album of her own compositions, "Scarlet." She continued to perform as an actress in TV dramas and musicals and as a member of The Gentle Wind, but stopped when she got married in 1996 and gave birth the following year. In 2006, she released a collection of her own piano works, "nahoko sound," and has since completely retired from performing.
