Biography

Jacqueline Ruth Woods, known professionally as Ilene Woods, and born on May 5, 1929 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, was a singer and actress. She gained her own radio program in 1944 and toured with Paul Whiteman and the Army Air Forces Orchestra during World War II. In 1948, Woods recorded "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo", "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" and "So This is Love" for Mack David and Jerry Livingston. These songs were later used in Walt Disney's Cinderella. After auditioning against over 300 others, Woods was chosen to voice the title character of Cinderella. Woods retired from show business in 1972 but continued to appear at occasional autograph shows. In 2003, she was named a Disney Legend for her voice work on Cinderella. Woods passed away on July 1, 2010.
