Clarence Carson Parksâ¯II, born in Philadelphia on April 26,â¯1936, was an American singerâsongwriter, music publisher, and performer. After training with the American Boychoir School and studying at Phillips Academy, the University of Miami, and Carnegie Mellon University, he moved to Losâ¯Angeles and coâfounded the Steeltown Two with Bernie Armstrong in 1959, recording for the Gini label. In the early 1960s, he formed the Greenwood County Singers, releasing four albums on Kapp Records, and later partnered with his wife, Gaile Foote, as Carson and Gaile. Their single, "Somethin' Stupid", was recorded by Frank and Nancy Sinatra, reaching Number 1 on the US Billboard Hotâ¯100 and the UK Singles Chart, a career highlight. Later in his career, Parks wrote for The Mills Brothers and Jack Jones and focused on publishing through Greenwood Music and Brâer Rab Music. He died on June 22, 2005.
