Hecate Enthroned, a Welsh black metal band, was formed in 1993 in Wrexham. Initially known as Amethyst and later Daemonum, the group adopted their final name in 1995. Their early releases included the demo tape An Ode for a Haunted Wood, which caught the attention of Blackend Records. The band's debut EP, Upon Promeathean Shores (Unscriptured Waters), was released in 1995. Hecate Enthroned's first full-length album, The Slaughter of Innocence, a Requiem for the Mighty, followed in 1997, produced by Andy Sneap. The band toured extensively, including performances with Ved Buens Ende and Impaled Nazarene. Notable albums include Dark Requiems...and Unsilent Massacre (1998), Kings of Chaos (1999), and Miasma (2001). In 2004, they released Redimus, which featured elements of progressive metal. The band continued to tour internationally, performing at festivals like Inferno in Norway. Hecate Enthroned's most recent album, Embrace of the Godless Aeon, was released in 2019.
