Hagar Schon Aaronson Shrieve was formed in the United States of America in 1983 as a hardârock supergroup featuring lead vocalist Sammy Hagar, lead guitarist Neal Schon, bassist Kenny Aaronson and drummer Michael Shrieve, all of whom brought extensive touring and recording experience from their prior bands. The bandâs initial breakthrough came when Sammy Hagar and Neal Schon decided to collaborate after Journeyâs Frontiers tour, leading to the recruitment of Kenny Aaronson and Michael Shrieve and the rapid rehearsal of material that would form the basis of their debut album. In 1984 the group released the semiâlive album Through the Fire, recorded during two performances at The Civic Center in Sanâ¯Francisco, which included a cover of Procol Harumâs "A Whiter Shade of Pale", the single that peaked at number 94 on the Billboard Hotâ¯100 and earned the group a brief presence on the charts; another promotional single, "Top of the Rock", reached number 15 on the Billboard Top Rock Tracks. The band toured briefly in California that same year, adding rhythm guitarist Nick Sciorsci for live dates, before disbanding as Neal Schon returned to Journey and Sammy Hagar pursued solo work and later joined Vanâ¯Halen. The single "A Whiter Shade of Pale" remains the only major charting release from the group, and Through the Fire is their sole studio album, marking the brief but documented entry of Hagar Schon Aaronson Shrieve into the hardârock canon.
