Biography

Bad English was an American rock band formed in 1987, consisting of John Waite on lead vocals and occasional guitar, Neal Schon on lead guitar and backing vocals, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, piano, rhythm guitar, and backing vocals, Ricky Phillips on bass and backing vocals, and Deen Castronovo on drums, percussion, and backing vocals. The band were a supergroup featuring former members of Journey and The Babys. Bad English's self-titled debut album was released in June 1989 and included the hit single "When I See You Smile", which peaked at Number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 1989. Other notable singles from the album were "Price of Love" and "Forget Me Not". The band toured extensively with Whitesnake from March to June 1990. Their second album, Backlash, released in August 1991, did not achieve the same level of success as their debut. The only single from this album, "Straight to Your Heart", peaked at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band disbanded shortly after due to creative differences and individual pursuits by its members.
