Biography

Rooted in electric guitar riffs and sky-high vocal melodies, Greta Van Fleet channel the swaggering spirit of iconic rock bands from the 1970s. The band was formed in 2012 in Frankenmuth, Michigan, by teenage twins Jake and Josh Kiszka and the boys' younger brother, Sam. The three siblings took inspiration from their father's collection of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, and Muddy Waters records. After replacing their original drummer, Kyle Hauck, with Danny Wagner, the group self-released a live album in 2014, followed by the EPs Black Smoke Rising and From the Fires in 2017. Greta Van Fleet's their first full-length album, Anthem of the Peaceful Army, followed in 2018 and quickly went gold. From the Fires went gold, too, and even took home a Grammy for "Best Rock Album" in 2019. The single "My Way, Soon" topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in 2020, becoming the band's fifth number 1 hit. It also appeared on Greta Van Fleet's second LP, The Battle At Garden’s Gate, in 2021. The Battle At Garden's Gate followed its predecessor, Anthem of the Peaceful Army, in reaching the Top 10 in the US. Now championed as leaders of America's modern-day rock scene, the band toured heavily before returning to the charts 2023 with a new album, Starcatcher.
