Biography
A fearless, crazed, gun-toting, wild man of rock, Ted Nugent plays guitar with breakneck ferocity whilst proudly declaring his conservative political views and taking a strict anti-drugs, anti-alcohol stance. Just 15 years old when he started out with his first band The Amboy Dukes, the Detroit school friends borrowed everything they could from The Rolling Stones, revved up the amps as loud as they'd go, added a touch of mid-West attitude and became one of the great US garage groups of the late 1960s. Turning solo in the mid-1970s (albeit accompanied by a fierce backing band), Nugent went on to sell over 30 million records and play over 6,000 gigs; becoming one of the guitar gods of the era and scoring the successful albums Ted Nugent (1975), Cat Scratch Fever (1977) and Double Live Gonzo!(1977). He formed the supergroup Damn Yankees in 1989 but later returned as a solo star with the acclaimed album Spirit of the Wild (1995). A keen hunter and staunch advocate of the right to bear arms, nowadays Nugent is more recognised as an outspoken political voice, broadcasting numerous television and radio shows, publishing books and supporting the right wing activist group the Tea Party.
