Biography

Ricky Warwick was born on July 11, 1966 in Newtownards, County Down, Northern Ireland. He received his first guitar at the age of 14 and began playing songs by artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. His family later moved to Strathaven in Scotland, where he met his future bandmates Stumpy Monroe and Floyd London. Ricky Warwick began his musical career as rhythm guitarist for the band New Model Army during their world tour in 1987. A year later, he founded the hard rock band The Almighty in Glasgow together with guitarist Andy "Tantrum" McCafferty, bassist Floyd London and drummer Stumpy Monroe. The Almighty released several successful albums, including Blood, Fire & Love (1989), Soul Destruction (1991) and Powertrippin' (1993), which reached number 5 in the British charts. After the break-up of The Almighty in 1996, Ricky Warwick dedicated himself to his solo career and released albums such as Tattoos & Alibis (2003) and Love Many Trust Few (2005). in 2009, he joins the legendary band Thin Lizzy as singer and guitarist and goes on tour with them. in 2012, Ricky Warwick founded the band Black Star Riders together with Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham to release new material. Their debut album All Hell Breaks Loose is released in 2013 and reaches number 25 in the British charts. This is followed by further albums such as The Killer Instinct (2015, No. 13), Heavy Fire (2017, No. 6), Another State of Grace (2019, No. 14) and Wrong Side of Paradise (2023, No. 6). On March 14, 2025, Ricky Warwick released his solo album Blood Ties, featuring guest musicians such as Lita Ford, Billy Duffy and Charlie Starr. The first single "Don't Leave Me in the Dark" will be released in advance in October 2024.
