Gracie and Rachel is a chamber pop piano-violin duo composed of singer-keyboardist Gracie Coates and violinist Rachel Ruggles, who met at Berkeley High School in California. They began collaborating on music while attending different colleges, with Coates studying at Berklee College of Music and Ruggles at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Their debut EP, Gracie and Rachel (Audiotree Live), was released in 2016. The duo's self-titled debut album, released in June 2017 via United For Opportunity, featured the single "Tiptoe" which premiered on WNYC Soundcheck. In October 2018, they released the single "HER" in response to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's testimony against Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Their second album, Hello Weakness You Make Me Strong, was released in September 2020 on Ani DiFrancoâs Righteous Babe Records and reached number 2 on Echoes Radioâs Top 25 Albums for September 2020.
