Biography
Goran Karan, born on April 2, 1964, in Belgrade, SR Serbia, Yugoslavia, is a Croatian singer-songwriter known for his powerful and refined tenor voice and songs influenced by Dalmatian folk music. Karan started as the lead singer of the Croatian rock group Big Blue before going solo in 1997. He released his debut album Kao da te ne volim (Like I Don't Love You) in 1999. Karan represented Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with the song "Kad zaspu anÄeli" ("When Angels Fall Asleep"), finishing at number 9. He collaborated with composer Zdenko RunjiÄ and won awards for songs like "Ružo moja bila", which triumphed at the 2005 Split Festival and SunÄane skale festival. Karan also composed "Ovo nije kraj" ("This Is Not the End") in response to the Kornati fire tragedy in 2007, gathering notable singers for its performance. Throughout his career, he released several albums including Vagabundo (Vagabund) in 2000, Ahoj! (Ahoy!) in 2003, Od srca do usana (From Heart to the Lips) and Zlatna kolekcija (Golden Collection) in 2005, as well as Dite Ljubavi (Child of Love) in 2008.
