Biography
Girlyman was an American folk-rock band formerly based in Brooklyn, New York City. The group consisted of Tylan "Ty" Greenstein, Doris Muramatsu, Nate Borofsky, and JJ Jones. Girlyman released their debut album Remember Who I Am in 2003, which sold 5,000 copies before being re-released by Daemon Records. The band's musical style was described as "harmony-driven gender pop" and enjoyed a strong following in the gay community. In late 2012, Girlyman took a hiatus from touring. On September 11, 2013, Muramatsu announced that Girlyman had officially disbanded. The band's notable achievements include winning the Outmusic Awards for Best New Album in 2004 for Remember Who I Am.
