Giovanna Daffini, born April 22, 1914, in Villa Saviola, Motteggiana, Italy, was an Italian singer. She learned popular songs from her mother and began performing at age seventeen with her father. Her early career involved working in the rice-growing districts of Novara and Vercelli, where she learned folk songs. She was later accompanied by her husband Vittorio Carpi on violin, with whom she performed at wedding dances and country festivals. Her repertoire included classical music, light songs, songs of mondine, and emigrants. After World War II, her repertoire was enriched with proletarian songs of social struggle. In 1962, she recorded the song "Alla mattina appena alzata" for musicologists Gianni Bosio and Roberto Leydi, who discovered her work, leading to her integration into the Nuovo Canzoniere Italiano collective. Her notable releases included the album Una voce un paese (1967) and the single "Festa d'aprile / Ama chi ti ama" (1967). She passed away on July 7, 1969, in Gualtieri.
