Biography

Giannis Aggelakas, born October 30, 1959, in Thessaloniki, Greece, is a Greek singer, songwriter, and poet. In 1983, he co-founded the rock band Trypes with Giorgos Karras. The group achieved success, becoming a cornerstone of Greek rock music and performing internationally. After Trypes disbanded in 1999, Aggelakas continued his solo career, collaborating with Nikos Veliotis and the band Οι Επισκέπτες (The Visitors). His album Apo 'do Ke Pano (From Here on Out), released in 2006, was a success in Greece. He also contributed to other artists' works, such as writing "Kyria ton mesa mou anemon" for Giorgos Christianakis's album O Thyroros (2001) and performing on Thanasis Papakonstantinou's album Vrachnos profitis (2000). Aggelakas has also published two poetry collections and appeared in films such as Choma kai nero (Earth and Water) and O chamenos ta pairnei ola (The Loser Takes All).
