Georgia Brown, born Lillian Claire Klot on October 21, 1933, in London, England, was a singer and actress. She began her career as a nightclub singer, adopting the professional name Georgia Brown. At age 17, she appeared at the Embassy Club in London and released her first records, "A Friend of Johnnyâs" and "Sweet Georgia Brown", for Decca Records in May 1951. Brown's breakthrough role was Nancy in Oliver!, which she created in the original 1960 London production and reprised on Broadway in 1963, earning a Tony Award nomination. She also appeared in various films and television dramas, including The Raging Moon (1971) and Shoulder to Shoulder (1974), where she sang the theme song "The March of the Women". Brown's notable albums include Sings A Little Of What You Fancy, September Song, and Georgia Brown. She passed away on July 5, 1992.
