Biography

Oliver Darley, born in England, emerged as a singer and actor after training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His breakthrough came in 2001 with the release of his debut album Introducing, produced by Arif Mardin and featuring the rhythm section of Aretha Franklin, including Bernard Purdie, Cornell Dupree, and David “Fathead” Newman, as well as The Impressions and Jools Holland. In 2002 the single "Rescue Me" served as the opening theme for the BBC series Rescue Me, while "She's a Killer", co‑written with Peter Cunnah, appeared in the film Whacked. Oliver Darley continued his musical output with the 2002 album Rescue Me and later projects, and he maintained a presence in theatre, appearing in the West End production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White (2004) and the dance film Dance 'til Dawn. Subsequent released include solo albums Sweet Sinner (2007) and Mindin' My Business (2014). In 2026, he partnered with pianist Chad Lelong on The Seat with the Clearest View, a piano-and-vocals album of David Bowie covers. The album reached number 15 on the UK Jazz & Blues Albums chart.
