Biography
Georges Décimus was born on October 26, 1955 in Pointe-à -Pitre, Guadeloupe, and has been the bassist for the zouk group Kassav' since its inception in 1979. He was primarily responsible for recruiting various members of the emblematic zouk group, such as Patrick Saint-Ãloi, who provided backing vocals on the group's 1982 album La Vie. He then teamed up with Jacob Desvarieux, also a co-founder of Kassav', and released the album Yélélé in 1984, which put the spotlight on their parallel activities with Kassav' with the title "Zouk la sé sèl médikaman nou ni". Two years later, the two men released the album Gorée, with the Kassav' logo added to the bottom of the sleeve. The album features such outstanding tracks as "Gorée", "Soulajé Yo " and "Mwen Anvi'w". Georges Décimus left Kassav' in 1991 to form the group Volt-Face with his friend, Dominican singer and Gramacks founder Jeff Joseph. Georges Décimus added several albums to his personal discography with Volt-Face, before rejoining Kassav' in 2004 for the release of the group's 14th album, Ktoz.
