Biography

George Wilson Younce was born on February 22, 1930, in Patterson, North Carolina. He began his musical career as a teenager as a member of the Spiritualaires quartet. He later helped form the Cathedral Quartet in November 1964. The group, composed of Younce, Glen Payne, Bobby Clark, and Danny Koker, toured globally for 36 years. Younce received numerous accolades, including 14 Singing News Fan Awards for Favorite Southern Gospel Bass Singer. He released several solo albums, including I Believe (1997) and That Says It All (1998), and authored notable songs like "Yesterday". Younce passed away on April 11, 2005, at Akron City Hospital in Ohio.
