Gary Allan Herzberg, born on December 5, 1967 in La Mirada, California, is an American country music singer. Raised Mormon, he began playing guitar and performing in honky tonks at the age of 13 with his father. At 15, he was offered a recording contract by A&M Records but declined to finish high school. After graduating from La Serna High School, Gary Allan continued performing with his band, the Honky Tonk Wranglers. His breakthrough came in 1996 when he signed with Decca Records and released his debut single "Her Man" from the gold-certified first album Used Heart For Sale. His second album, It Would Be You, followed in 1998. Gary Allan then moved to MCA Nashville for his third album, Smoke Rings In The Dark, which became his first platinum album. Subsequent albums Alright Guy (2001) and See If I Care (2003) were both certified platinum, while Tough All Over (2005), Greatest Hits (2007), and Living Hard (2007) were certified gold. Gary Allan's albums Get Off On The Pain (2010) and Set You Free (2013) reached the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Top Country Albums charts. Notable hits include "Man to Man", "Tough Little Boys" (both 2003), "Nothing On but the Radio" (2004), and "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)" (2013). Ruthless, his tenth studio album, arrived in 2021.
