Biography

Gabriel Sopeña Genzor, born on August 9, 1962, in Zaragoza, Spain, is a poet, musician, composer, and university professor. He began his musical journey in 1979 with the duo Ático Negro alongside José Luis Martín. His discographic career started in 1983 with Golden Zippers, collaborating closely with Mauricio Aznar until Aznar's death in 2000. Sopeña led Ferrobós, a pioneering band in Aragonese rock, which won the Primer (y único) Concurso de Rock Ciudad de Zaragoza in 1980 and released their sole album Círculo de fuego in 1988. After Ferrobós disbanded in 1989, Sopeña formed El Frente, releasing Otro lugar bajo el sol in 1991 and Barcos in 1992 before embarking on a solo career. His first solo album, 1000 km de sueños, was released in 1997. In 2024, he released Desiertos, winning two Premios de la Música Aragonesa awards in 2025 for best production and best solo artist.
