Biography

Nacha Pop, a Spanish pop/rock group, was formed in 1978 in Madrid. The band initially consisted of Antonio Vega and Nacho García Vega on guitars and vocals, Carlos Brooking on bass, and Ñete on drums. Their debut album, Nacha Pop, released in 1980 under Hispavox, featured the hit single “Chica de Ayer”, composed by Antonio Vega. The band's second album, Buena Disposición (1982), solidified their status as a leading act in the Spanish music scene, leading to tours with international acts like the Ramones and Siouxsie and The Banshees. In 1983, they signed with DRO and released Más números, otras letras, which included notable tracks such as “Luz de cruce” and “Agárrate a mi”. Their subsequent album, Dibujos Animados (1985), produced the Number 1 hit “Grité una noche”, marking their first chart-topper on Los 40 Principales. The band's final studio album before disbanding was El Momento (1987), which featured hits like “Vístete” and “Lucha de gigantes”. Nacha Pop disbanded in 1988 but reunited briefly from 2007 to 2009, with the release of their final studio album, Efecto Inmediato, in 2017. Antonio Vega passed away on May 12, 2009.
