Florbela de Carvalho Azevedo Queiroz, born on February 10, 1943, in Lisbon, is a renowned Portuguese actress. She began her artistic journey at 13, studying classical dance and theater at the National Conservatory alongside notable figures like Nicolau Breyner. Her stage debut came in 1957 with As Bruxas de Salém at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, and she made her television debut in 1958 in O Landau de Seis Cavalos. Over the years, Florbela Queiroz gained prominence through roles in theater, television, and film, starring in productions like Let's Discover Portugal (1959) and A Canção da Saudade (1964). In 1965, she received the Prémio Imprensa for Best Theater Actress and ventured into music, releasing her first records. Her career spanned multiple genres, including musical comedy and drama, with notable appearances in the series Pedro e Paulina (1982) and Origens (1983). After a decade-long hiatus, she returned to theater in 2010 and continued to perform in acclaimed productions like Ol(h)á Florbela (2016). Recognized for her contributions, she was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit in 2011 and became a Commander of the Order of Merit in 2019.
