Ãtoa is a quartet from Ãvora, Portugal, comprised of four close friends: Guilherme (lead vocals, guitar, piano, ukulele), João (guitar, piano, vocals), Rodrigo (drums, percussion, vocals, piano), and Mário (bass, guitar), who originally met at school and refined their musical chemistry at the Conservatório Eborae Música. Guided by their shared passion, the group began writing collaboratively in 2014 before recording early tracks like âFalar a Doisâ and âA Distânciaâ in the rehearsal room and launching them on YouTube and the Tradiio platform, where their success led to a record deal with Universal. Their debut album Idade dos Inquietos (2015) introduced bright, Portuguese-language pop marked by singles âFalar a Doisâ and âDistância.â In the following years, they built on that foundation with tracks such as âA Cada Passoâ (2016), âJá Nãoâ (2017), and âVoltavasâ (2018), culminating in their mature sophomore album Sem Medos (2019) featuring introspective tracks like âHoje,â âSem Ti,â and collaborations with Valas (âO Nosso Tempoâ) and LUA (âParaquedasâ). Between 2024 and 2025 they released several standalone singlesââCinco e Meia,â âRitinha,â âRomance de Balcãoâ (with Grupo Académico Seistetos), âNão Durmo Bem,â and âTu na Tuaâ with Luis Trigacheiro and Buba Espinho, which peaked at number 24 on the Portuguese charts.
