Diogo Piçarra (October 19, 1990) is a Portuguese pop singer from Faro. During his teenage years, he was a part of the band Fora da Bóia and then studied abroad in the Czech Republic for a semester. Upon his return to Portugal, he became a contestant on the music reality show Ãdolos, where he was quickly eliminated. Diogo Piçarra then participated in the music TV contest Operação Triunfo but didnât make it past the first round. His perseverance paid off, though, and he went on to the fifth season of Ãdolos in 2012. Espelho, Diogo Piçarraâs studio debut, arrived in 2015 and quickly rose to the top of the Portuguese charts. Two years later, he repeated the feat with his sophomore effort do=s (2017), which featured guest spots by Valas (âPonto de Partidaâ) and April Ivy (âNão Sou Euâ). Following a frustrated attempt to represent Portugal at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest due to accusations of plagiarism, he dropped his third full-length South Side Boy in 2019. A handful of collaborative singles followed in 2020 and 2021, including âMonarquia,â a melancholic pop-rap tune with rapper Bispo that reached Number 28 on the Portuguese charts.
