Fermin Muguruza Ugarte, born on April 20, 1963, in Irún, Guipúzcoa, Spain, was a Basque musician, singer, songwriter, and producer. He began his musical journey at age six, learning solfeo, acordeon, and guitar. In 1984, Muguruza founded the group Kortatu with his brother Iñigo Muguruza and Mattin Sorzabalbere, later replaced by Treku Armendáriz. Kortatu introduced ska and dub to the Spanish music scene, releasing albums such as Kortatu (1985) and Kolpez Kolpe (1988). After Kortatu disbanded, Muguruza formed Negu Gorriak with Iñigo and Kaki Arkarazo in 1990. The group released several albums including Negu Gorriak (1990) and Gure Jarrera (1991), and founded the label Esan Ozenki Records. Following Negu Gorriak's dissolution, Muguruza embarked on a solo career, blending reggae, dub, and various other genres. His notable albums include Ireki Ateak (1997) and Euskal Herria Jamaika Clash (2006).
