Farryl Purkiss, born on March 20, 1980, in Durban, South Africa, is a singer-songwriter known for his contributions to folk rock, indie rock, and rock music. At fifteen, Purkiss began playing guitar, and began writing songs shortly after his sixteenth birthday. He self-released the EP Chapter One (2005), which led to his signing with 2Feet Music. His self-titled debut full-length album, Farryl Purkiss (2006), received high acclaim and chart success. Purkiss toured extensively, performing with international artists such as Jack Johnson and Donavon Frankenreiter. His second album, Fruitbats & Crows (2009), won a South African Music Award. In the following years, he achieved radio success in multiple territories, including Japan and a Number 1 in France. His songs featured in various advertising campaigns and TV shows, such as Private Practice.
