The Far East Band, a six-member group from Germany, formed in 1997. The original lineup included Johanna Rebbelmund on saxophone, André Heyer on bass, Andreas Wendland on guitar, Marco Baresi on drums, and Matthias Falkenau on keyboard. They also served as a backing band for the reggae musician Gentleman. In 2003, the band released their first live album, Gentleman and the Far East Band Live. The same year, they contributed to Gentleman's album Confidence with Marco Baresi producing "After a Storm". They also collaborated on the soundtrack for the film Almost Heaven. In 2007, their own album Tough Enough featured guest appearances from artists such as D-Flame and Suzie Kerstgens. The song "The Call Up" was released as a single in two versions.
