Biography

Estampie, a German music group founded in 1985 by Sigrid Hausen, Michael Popp, and Ernst Schwindl, was known for its focus on medieval music with modern influences. Their debut album A chantar - Lieder der Frauenminne was released in 1990. The band collaborated with Deine Lakaien singer Alexander Veljanov on albums like Crusaders - In Nomine Domini (1996), Materia Mystica (Homage to Hildegard von Bingen) (1998), and Ondas (2000). Fin Amor (2002) notably featured an orchestra and explored themes of love based on medieval poetry. Their 2004 album Signum was praised for its arrangements including harps and flutes, with a theme of transience. Estampie also released albums under the Al Andaluz Project, collaborating with Spanish folk bands L'Ham de Foc and Amán Amán. In 2013, the band released Secrets of the North, which explored Scandinavian medieval legends.
