Biography

Esne Beltza, a Spanish musical group from the Basque Country, was formed in 2007 by Xabi Solano during a tour with Fermin Muguruza Kontrabanda. The name Esne Beltza, meaning "black milk," reflects the paradox of white musicians playing black music. Their debut album Made in Euskal Herria was released in 2008, featuring tracks primarily in Basque but also including songs or verses in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. The group's music blended reggae, ska, hip-hop, and trikitixa, also known as the Basque accordion. Subsequent albums include Noa (2010), Freedom 3 Kolpetan (2011), Gora! (2013), and Esna (2015). Another album titled Esne Bidea was released in 2023.
