Eli Hudnall Cook, born April 24, 1986, in Lynchburg, Virginia, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Inspired by his parents' diverse record collection and lack of television, he began playing guitar at age 13, imitating Mississippi John Hurt and Fred McDowell, and started performing acoustic blues at Rapunzel's Coffee House in Lovingston at 15. Cook's first break came in 2007 when he opened for B.B. King at multiple shows. His early albums Moonshine Mojo, Electricholyfirewater, and Static in the Blood were independent releases showcasing guitar-focused country rock, blues metal, and experimental R&B, respectively. In 2013, he signed with Cleopatra Records, releasing Primitive Son in 2014, which featured multiple notable guest musicians. Cook has shared the stage with Johnny Winter, Robert Cray, Robin Trower, Shemekia Copeland, and others, and performed at the Millennium Stage of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and at the South by Southwest Festival in 2014.
